Where is Wicklow on Ice located?

Wicklow on Ice is set in the picturesque Beyond the Trees,  Avondale, Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow, right in front of the beautiful and historic Avondale House.

How do I book tickets?

Tickets can be purchased online through our website. We recommend booking in advance, especially during weekends and holidays, to secure your preferred time slot.

What should I wear?

We recommend dressing warmly in layers, as it can get chilly on the ice. Gloves and hats are a great idea, and avoid long scarves to prevent tripping. Ensure you wear socks for comfort inside the skates!

Are skates provided?

Yes, skates are included in the ticket price and are available in a range of sizes. If you prefer, you’re welcome to bring your own skates.

Can children skate?

Absolutely! We have skates for children, and younger skaters can use skating aids to help them balance.

Children under 5 are not permitted to skate.
Please note that an Adult needs to be in the vicinity of the rink for the duration of the session - for Children between the age of 5 & 8.

For Children under the age of 8, we highly recommend you skate with your children. All skating is conducted at your own risk and an adult will be required to sign a waiver for this ticket

How old do children have to be to skate alone?
Children must be at least 12 years of age to be left alone

What if I’ve never skated before?

No problem! Wicklow on Ice is perfect for all skill levels. We recommend starting slow and using one of our skating aids if needed.

Is there parking available?

Yes, there is ample parking available on-site at Beyond the Trees Avondale, where they charge €5 per car.  Follow the signs when you arrive.

Can I take photos on the ice?

For safety reasons, we ask that you do not use phones or cameras while on the ice. However, feel free to take pictures from the side lines and in our designated photo areas.

Is there a café or food available?

Yes, we have a selection of refreshments and hot drinks available to warm up after your skating session.

Can I change my booking?

Yes, bookings can be amended IF you have set up an account at the time of booking. The link to amend your tickets can also be found on your booking confirmation email. Customers can change their date/time of booking with a minimum of 72 hours’ notice. To change your date/time please login to your account by clicking on My Tickets.

What is your cancellation or refund policy?

All sales are final and non-refundable

Can I change the names/transfer on my booking?

If you are unable to attend, your tickets can be transferred to other family and friends.

Are there any group discounts?

Yes, we offer group rates for parties or corporate events. Contact us in advance to learn more about our group booking options.

Can I rent the rink for private events?

Yes, we do offer private rink rentals for parties, corporate events, or special occasions. Contact us for details and availability.

How long is a session?

Each session is 45 minutes

Do you have safety equipment ?

Yes, we have a number of safety helmets, knee pad and shin pads

Am I covered with insurance/Is there insurance for the event?

 Wicklow on Ice takes due care to make sure you are safe.  This is real ice and ice skating may involve a fall or accident.  There is no insurance cover for any injuries sustained while ice skating. 

Is there a Sensory Session?

Yes, we have two Sensory Sessions for the Wicklow on Ice Event. These dates are the 06/12/2024 and 10/01/2025 at 14:00-14:45

Do I need to sign a Waiver?

Yes, you will need to sign a Waiver for everyone in your party before you can skate with us
